The budget of the Seventh Platonov Art Festival amounted to 77 million rubles – this was stated by Art Director of the forum Mikhail Bychkov during the final press conference on Thursday, June 15. A third of this sum was earned by the festival management by selling tickets to the festival events.

According to Mikhail Bychkov, the 2017 festival budget was formed out of three equal parts in a balanced manner: one third was received from ticket sales, one third – from sponsors and philanthropists, and one third – as subsidies from regional and city budgets.

Over 150 volunteers have helped the management during the seventh festival. The number of countries participating in the forum has reached 23.

According to management’s calculations, the festival events wave been attended by over 85 thousand spectators. Almost 26 thousand of them purchased tickets to paid plays and concerts, 59 thousand became participants of free events – exhibitions, meetings with writers, readings and street theatre performances. The “World Music in Bely Kolodets” opera-air was attended by over 2 thousand people.

The most massive event of the PlatonovFest was the street theatre parade that gathered over 30 thousand Voronezh residents, 20 thousand of which stayed to watch theatre performances on Lenin Square. In 2017, the “Summer Lights” Theatre Parade took place in nighttime for the first time.

– I didn’t see an outflow of viewers related to late parade starting time, on the contrary – it seemed to me there were even more of them that usual, - Mikhail Bychkov noted. – But I don’t know if we’re going to hold the parade in the evening again in the future. It should be noticed that night parades not only look more spectacular but also cost more. And by the way, not all theatres have lighting equipment to participate in such a parade. So we need to consider all pros and cons.

Two concerts of the musical programme had to be moved from the Green Theatre to Event-Hall due to bad weather conditions – the peace mass “Armed Man” and jazz concert “Dedication to Gershivin”. The art director if the festival noted that it does not mean the management would forgo open-air events in the future.

– The weather has only failed us in the last two years. June had been a hot month during the first five festivals. In the first years, the book fair took place on Lenin Square, then we moved to Sovetskaya Square – particularly because of the heat, and then hid from it under the trees, - Mikhail Bychkov reminded. – The Green Theatre is a great site, and we would not want to abandon it, but we’ll see how it goes next year.

One of the most attended sites of the Seventh Platonov Festival was “Commune” Art Center which is supposed to be demolished this summer. According to Mikhail Bychkov, the management is planning to find a replacement for “Commune” – a site that would be located in the city center and would be fit for contemporary art projects. Mikhail Bychkov said that one of the variants for the future art center is the territory of the former distillery where “Zodchestvo VRN” Architecture Forum was held this year.

According to Mikhail Bychkov, the theatre has already signed up for the “Golden Mask” Award with this play. The forum closed with Italian artists performing the play “Aria”. All in all, over 100 events were held on 15 city sites in 12 festival days.
