World Music in White Well Quarry, the traditional open-air of the Platonov Festival, will include performances of indie-band Naviband from Belarus and singer Eivør from the Faroe Islands – this was reported by festival’s management board on Tuesday, February 5. The open-air concert will be held on June 8 at the White Well Quarry 12 km away from Voronezh.

Naviband is a band from Belarus playing indie-folk. Naviband has twice become the awardees of the “Lira” National Music Award of Belarus, and in 2017, they represented Belarus at Eurovision with their song “Story Of My Life”. Naviband has repeatedly participated in the Dikaya Myata Festival and gave solo concerts in Prague, Warsaw, Moscow, and St. Petersburg.

Eivør (actual name is Eivør Pálsdóttir) is a singer from the Faroe Islands living in Copenhagen. Her music includes elements of jazz, folk and electronic music. She is often called “the Faroe Bjork” for her singing style. Eivør has 13 albums, 18 Faroese Music Awards, 3 Icelandic Music Awards, and 2 Danish Music Awards under her belt. The singer has taken part in official soundtracks to TV series Downton Abbey and The Last Kingdom, as well as films Deepwater Horizon and Silence.

The performances of these artists will replace the concert of Gin Wigmore from New Zealand who will now be able to make it to the festival. The third participant of the open-air will be announced by the management board later.

The tickets to World Music in White Well Quarry will be on sale since Friday, February 8. They can be purchased until February 28 at a minimal cost, after that the cost will grow. As always, the concert venue can be reached via festival buses for free.
