The first Il-112V military cargo aircraft was handed over to the Flight-Test Center (FTC) of the Voronezh Aircraft Production Association (VASO) on November 27, the Press Service of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC). Specialists of PJSC Ilyushin Aviation Complex must carry out a complex of airfield tests of the aircraft after which they will deliver their opinion on Il-112V’s readiness for its first flight.

In October of 2018, Director of the Il-112V Light Military Cargo Aircraft Programme of the Ilyushin Company Alexander Bykov reported that the first operational prototype of Il-112V has finished a complex of ground frequency tests at the Zhukovsky Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute. It is where the ground frequency tests of the airframe, automatic and manual control and landing gear where held.

The Il-112V military cargo aircraft is intended for shipping and parachuting up to 5 tons of light arms and military equipment, cargo and personnel. Il-112V is supposed to replace An-26 aircrafts. The VASO invested over 1.3 billion rubles in workshop modernization for the assemblage of Il-112V. The aircraft is fully made of domestically-produced parts. In the long term, the VASO is planning to produce up to 24 aircrafts a year. The serial production of Il-112V will begin in Voronezh after 2020.
