Multi-genre festival of traditional culture “Russkoe Leto” (Russian Summer) is scheduled for execution in Voronezh. This was proposed to Head of the Region Alexander Gusev by the deputy literary artistic director of the Moscow Art Theater, writer Zakhar Prilepin on Tuesday, February 19.

The festival is scheduled to be held in September. During the four days, there will be several sites where the organizers will hold creative meetings with literary figures, lectures, and discussions on national history. It is also planned to organize concerts, reenactment shows, and a fair. There will be a separate program for children which will include workshops, sports competitions, and puppet plays.

According to Zakhar Prilepin, the idea of the festival is the popularization of traditional values and the communication of Russian traditions. Alexander Gusev supported the idea and suggested considering the option of combining the Russian Summer festival with the events of the City Garden festival.

– It's nice that Voronezh is appreciated as a venue for conducting a Russian culture festival. This format is demanded by the audience, and everything that is connected with history, with our roots and patriotic education is very important today, – Alexander Gusev noted.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Governor Sergey Sokolov, First Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government Vladimir Popov, Head of the Regional Culture Department Emilia Sukhacheva and Deputy of the Voronezh City Duma Konstantin Ashifin. The Head of the Region instructed the field-specific deputies to work on the detailed development of the program and its timing with the organizers of the Russian Summer festival.
