About 1.2 thousand hectares of new forest were planted in the Voronezh Region as part of the regional project “Forest Preservation”, the Regional Forestry Administration reported on Wednesday, May 13. The planted area is 72% of the planned annual volume of work of 1.6 thousand hectares. The remaining areas will be planted in autumn.

Over 4.7 million seedlings of coniferous and deciduous trees were planted during the spring campaign. The maximum volume was planted in the Davydovskoye, Donskoye, Novousmanskoye, and Tellermanovskoye forestries.

The Forest Preservation program is part of the “Ecology” national project. It will be implemented in the Voronezh Region from 2019 to 2024. Based on the results, the reforestation volume is planned to be increased from 1.5 thousand hectares in 2019 to 2.3 thousand hectares by 2024. In addition, as part of the project, the forest fire fighting center is receiving new equipment – its vehicle fleet is already equipped with tankers, tractors, aerial platforms, cultivators, harrows, plows, and other forestry and fire fighting equipment.
