Voronezh has become a member of the International Smart Sustainable City Club (ISSCC), RIA Novosti has reported. In addition to Voronezh, the list that was formed by the representatives of the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation included Tolyatti, Krasnodar, Sochi, Novorossiysk, Innopolis, Magas and Sarov. The cities were presented at the Open Innovations Forum on Tuesday, October 16. The applications were selected by “Smart City” working group experts.

The club was established by cities, research institutes and organizations of the countries interested in the standardization of sustainable smart cities. More than 30 other Russian cities can join the organization. According to ISSCC criteria, “smart cities” are innovation centers that use modern technology to improve their standard of living.

Voronezh is included in the list of 18 territories where pilot projects under “Smart City” program are being implemented. Centralized information systems and selective smart developments will be tested in the cities. For example, mobile applications for management companies, housing and public utilities synchronized with GIS.

Developments by Rostelecom, Rosnano, Rostec, Rosatom and other large companies will be implemented in the municipalities selected as pilots for the project. The leading universities of the country will also take part in the work.
