The organizers of the World Cliff Diving Series announced the cancellation of the 2020 season due to the coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday, April 22. Only the Australian stage will be held in November.

Two Voronezh high divers - Artem Silchenko and Nikita Fedotov - were supposed to take part in the competition.

“I hope that we will be able to compete in the Crimea on August 1. As for other international competitions, I am not cherishing vain hopes. If the World Series has been canceled, then the European Swimming League is unlikely to hold the European Championship, where we were to debut in May. In the meantime, I work as a loader. This work requires physical effort. I have to provide for my family. I stay in shape as I can but I combine all this with work. Hard times require hard decisions. I was taken off the paycheck in the Russian National Team, but the family must somehow live, so I need to work. Well, no more salary means no more salary, I’m not complaining. Last year I did not deliver good results. I know the rules, this is a sport, it’s all fair. I know that it’s hard for everyone now, there are those who have it much harder than me,” said Artem Silchenko in an interview with the R-Sport news agency.
