The Voronezh Funeral Home has invited the residents to tours over the Kominternovsky Cemetery. Tours will be led by the head of “Voronezh on Foot” movement, local historian Olga Rudeva. Tour participants will visit the graves of famous fellow countrymen and learn the history of the cemetery. The first tour will start at the cemetery’s mains gate from the Moskovsky Avenue side at 15:50 on Thursday, June 22.
Citizens will be able to see a memorial complex in honor of liberator soldiers, unique headstones and monuments moved from the Chugunovsky Cemetery as well as graves of artist Vasily Krivoruchko and folk singer Maria Mordasova. The next tours will be held at 12:00 on Saturday, June 24, at 19:00 on Thursday, June 29, and at 12:00 on Saturday, July 1. For additional information, call 279 20 80.
The Kominternovsky Cemetery was founded in 1932 and has a historical and memorial site status. The cemetery contains the graves of Soviet soldiers who had died in 1943 while liberating Voronezh. In addition, it is the burial ground of Heroes of the First World War, Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia, famous sports, art and science figures.
