Graduates of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics of the Voronezh State University Ivan Minakov and Sergei Andreev created a website with an online map of the distribution of coronavirus in the world. The data on the web-portal is updated every 15 minutes, one of the developers told a RIA Voronezh correspondent on Saturday, February 1.

Voronezh residents decided to create a service that would have a map, statistics, useful information for people interested in the problem. The website has not only a map, but also statistics of coronavirus infections in Russia, as well as in the world. It also has all the collected news and information about the coronavirus.

“Literally two days have passed from the moment we had this idea to the launch of the website. Every 15 minutes, the sources are parsed (the process of automatic collection of data from the Web – RIA Voronezh), the information in the database is updated and then displayed on the website. The data can be updated manually if necessary,” Ivan Minakov noted.

The developer noted that their data on the map is more relevant than that developed by American experts of the Systems Engineering Research Center (SERC). So far, the Voronezh website about the coronavirus is only in Russian, but the Voronezh State University graduates have also purchased a domain with the same name in the .com zone. So in the future, they can launch the website in English as well.

The new virus type – the 2019-nCoV - emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan with a population of 11 million people. Presumably, the first sick people were infected by seafood from a wholesale market. The first two cases of confirmed coronavirus infection in Russia were reported by RIA Novosti with reference to Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova on January 31. The disease was detected in Chinese citizens - one case in Zabaykalsky Krai, the second - in the Tyumen Region. In Voronezh, a 35-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman were brought to the hospital with suspected coronavirus after visiting China, and later - a 35-year-old man and his 25-year-old wife.
